On behalf of all our instructors, welcome to Music and Arts at the Hornell Area Family YMCA! I am delighted to be a part of this exciting new venture. We have a lot to offer and will continue adding new classes and instructors along the way. I welcome your suggestions and feedback. We are committed to offering the highest-quality instruction from experienced and enthusiastic teachers. Art and music classes and individual music lessons begin in the summer of 2011 in the beautiful new Fletcher Family Cultural Center; future plans for expansion include literature, drama, and dance. We look forward to partnering with area schools and arts organizations to bring new opportunities for artistic expression. I look forward to meeting you and sharing this exciting adventure with you.
See you in class!

“As a kid growing up in Hornell, the YMCA was the single most important influence on my life. By investing in this new facility, I hope to make a real difference in the lives of today’s kids. I feel that what we’re undertaking at the Hornell Y, particularly with music and the other arts, is going to be one of the most important things that’s happened to the Hornell community, possibly ever.”
- Bob Fletcher
The Fletcher Family Cultural Center honors the generosity of Robert and Ann Fletcher and their family, who have made the Music and Arts Program possible. Bob Fletcher grew up in Hornell and followed his father into piano and organ sales and service. Today, Fletcher Music stores can be found across Florida and Arizona. The Fletcher family has left a lasting legacy in Hornell in the new YMCA. The Cultural Center includes art and music classrooms and four studios for music lessons. The Center will ultimately house three pianos, community rehearsal space, recording equipment, digital photography and editing stations, and a printmaking station.

instructors available for specialized instruments such as classical fiddle and
folk instruments.
Art and music classes are also available and generally run for 8 weeks.
