 Run For The Shamrock Run and Walk
This race is run the same Saturday the City of Hornell celebrates St. Patrick’s Day (this year: 3/17/12). This is a 3.1 mile certified course that goes through the streets of Hornell with the start and finish in front of the YMCA.

Hornell YMCA Cookbooks for Sale
The members and program participants of the Hornell YMCA contributed favorite recipes and compiled them to make a Family Favorites Cookbook. This cookbook has a wide variety of recipes in all the major culinary areas. Included in this great collection of beloved recipes from the Hornell area are appetizers and beverages, soups and salads, vegetables and side dishes, main dishes, bread and rolls, desserts, cookies and candy, this and that, along with an index packed full of cooking tips, measurement substitutions, quick fixes, calorie counting, and cooking terms. You don’t want to miss out on this professionally published custom cookbook. Get your own copy and give the gift of great food to those you love by stopping by the Hornell YMCA at 18 Center St. Each cookbook costs $10; please make all checks payable to Sarah Blaisdell. All proceeds go to the Hornell YMCA pool building fund.

Throughout the year, the Hornell YMCA sponsors several special events that are open to anyone who wishes to participate:
5K Turkey Trot Run and Walk - This 3.1 mile race is run on Thanksgiving morning with over 500 participants each year. Many participants have made this part of their Thanksgiving tradition. This is a certified race route that starts and finishes in front of the YMCA.
YMCA Golf tournament - This tournament is held in June at Twin Hickory Golf Course in Hornell. It is a 4 man captain and crew format with many great prizes and plenty of fun.
Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball Tournament - Every July, Gus Macker returns to take over Main Street in downtown Hornell. Age groups for the tournament start at 10 and under and go up to 40+.
NFL Punt Pass & Kick - This competition is free and open to boys and girls
ages 8-15. The PP&K competition will be held Saturday September 17, 2011, between 10:00-12:00
at the North Hornell Athletic field before during and after the youth soccer
league games. Registration will start at 10:00am.
The NFL PP & K football competition allows youngsters
to showcase their talents in punting, passing and place kicking the football,
with scores based on distance and accuracy. Age classification is as of December
31, 2010.
