What You Need to Know About the Step Up Health Competition

This program gives you a simple way to create a healthier workforce. By motivating your employees to form teams and compete against each other, they can achieve healthy goals and develop healthier lifestyles.

Since the program is set up and tracked online, getting started is easy. But before you do, here's a little helpful information to ensure you get the best results possible.

How the competition works

The competition is based on two goals each of us should strive to meet every day-being more physically active and eating more fruits and vegetables. Everyone within your organization is asked to split up into teams, keep track of how physically active they are and how many servings of fruits and vegetables they enjoy daily. The team that achieves the highest scores after eight weeks wins.

Scoring:
Each player is able to keep track of how much they walk as well as how many servings of fruits and vegetables they consume. They can also enter the total number of steps and servings on their personal Step Up webpage. It's then up to you to decide how best to reward sucess, like bragging rights or vacation days.

Tracking and monitoring:
Because everything is done via the web, it's easy to see each team's results on a regular basis. This becomes a useful tool for those who want to motivate their teams or themselves to pick up the pace.

Team Tools:
Each player receives the following items to help them keep track of their goals:

  • Balance Book:
Can be used to record daily steps and daily servings offline. These steps and servings can be added to the website at a later date for the players' convenience.
  • Bookmark:
A handy reminder for each player to enter their data on the website.
  • Webpage:
Players enter their steps and servings here, track their team and individual progress, as well as access tips, tools and other healthy resources.

Note: Each player will need to become a registered Step Up website user in order to participate in the program. Participants will need to obtain pedometers, or step counters, to track their steps.

Set-Up Tools:
To make our program as easy to implement as possible, we provide you with the following tools:

  • Pre-witten emails:
An entire series of emails designed to help you inform and educate all members of your organization, as well as recruit help from supervisors and support management.
  • Daily Tips:
These email-ready tips provide everyone with ways to be healthier every day.
  • Motivational posters:
Can be posted around your organization to raise awareness and excitement.
  • Online monitoring:
From our website, you can set up and track the success of the competition. You'll be able to view the progress of teams.

Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns about joining in on this program.
