Kristoph Kocan - Chief Executive Officer
Kristoph joined the Hornell YMCA staff in June 2019. A graduate of Clarion University, Kristoph was with the Meadville Family YMCA from 2012-2019 where he served as the Executive Director for the Downtown Branch. Before being an employee, he served as a member of the Board of Directors for 6 years. There he oversaw all facility management and competitive gymnastics and aquatics for the Meadville YMCA association and as well as help coach and work with the YMCA swim team both as a volunteer and as a staff member. Kristoph grew up in the Titusville YMCA where his father was the Exec Director. Both he and his wife share a passion for personal fitness and their children have grown up doing YMCA gymnastics, swimming, and other programs.
Dan Galatio - Program Director
A graduate of Canisteo Central School, Alfred State College, and SUNY Brockport, Dan first joined the Y in 1989 as Physical Director. Dan and his family are proud to have called the Y home for nearly 30 years and counting.
Erica Ellis - Finance Director
Erica began working with the Hornell YMCA in 2013 with the Membership Department. Her role has since expanded to include Finance, Human Resources, and Membership. She also serves as a Kid Piano instructor for our Music and Arts Department. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Management & Economics with a concentration in Accounting and Management. She also shares a passion for fitness and nutrition and enjoys helping others along their healthy living journey through our Y.
Sara Wood - Director of Childcare Operations
Sara joined the Y in 2015 as Child Care & Fitness Director with six years’ experience in childcare at both the Hornell and River Valley Regional YMCAs. A former pre-school teacher, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and in Clinical Psychology. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Bill DeMarr - Maintenance Director
Bill DeMarr has been with the YMCA since 2005. He helps provide a clean safe environment for our members and program participants to enjoy while they visit us.
Rebecca Weaver Hamm - Music & Arts Director
Rebecca Weaver Hamm enjoys bringing music and art programming to the greater Hornell community through the Y. She joined the staff in 2011. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Wittenberg University and a Master of Arts in Voice Pedagogy from The Ohio State University. She also studied voice at the Eastman School of Music.
Kate Warren - Marketing & HR Director
Kate joined the YMCA staff in January 2014 after moving from the great state of Ohio. She loves working with members and guests and helping them begin their involvement with the Y movement. She enjoys using her creative side to design marketing pieces for all of our programs and activities as well as managing the Hornell YMCA social media and website. Kate is currently working toward her Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, & Economics.
Jason Nilson - Fitness Director
Prior to joining the Y staff in 2011, Jason worked at the Corning Community YMCA. He loves teaching boot camp and HIIT classes, leading youth fitness programs, personal training, and helping any member develop a plan to accomplish personal fitness goals. Jason loves training athletes and started our Athletic Training Performance Program where he has trained individual athletes as well as entire sports teams.
Nick Kowtun - Membership & Aquatics Director
Nick Kowtun began his work with the YMCA in July 2014 in the Childcare Department. Nick has been overseeing our Aquatics Department since February of 2018. Nick enjoys helping members and the community while influencing the Y's mission.
John Lieb - Head Trainer
Since 1998, John has led and coached both adult & youth basketball leagues and camps, provided personal training, and led the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Whether you’re 9 or 90, John is here to help.
